We Keep Bariatric Surgery Simple

We believe in smoothing out your road to weight loss surgery. The process should not be burdensome to you, so we provide a simple path to bariatric surgery in 3 easy steps.

In general, there are 3 steps that everyone must complete for gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and gastric (Lap Band, Realize band):

Step 1 - Get Medical Records

Step 2 - Psychological Evaluation

All patients must have a psychological evaluation before weight loss surgery. We will provide you with a list of recommended doctors for this evaluation.

Step 3 - Weight Management Program

In order to get the most out of your surgery, you must make a lifelong commitment to healthy eating and exercise. We offer a comprehensive medical weight loss program that teaches you how to eat differently and live a more active lifestyle. The program will continue to be available to you even after your surgery. The program includes:

• A 40 minute, one-on-one initial evaluation with our registered dietician to assess your    current eating and exercise habits, and give you a personalized plan.

• Monthly visits with the dietician to check your progress.

• Food log tracking.

• Behavior modification.

• Exercise counseling.

• Support groups

• Private monthly weigh-ins.

• Accountability on a regular basis.

Benefits of Bariatric Surgery

Why bariatric surgery?

Morbid obesity is as much a disease as diabetes or high blood pressure, and it should be treated as such. Weight loss surgery has been shown to improve life expectancy and resolve a host of obesity related ailments. No other treatment compares.

Bariatric surgery improves life expectancy

• Morbid obesity is a disease. It doubles the risk of premature death and reduces life    expectancy by 9 years in women and 12 years in men.

• Morbidly obese people who do not have bariatric surgery are 2 times more likely to die    prematurely from heart disease than those who have surgery.

• Bariatric surgery reduces the risk of all cancer diagnoses by 78%.

Bariatric surgery resolves a host of ailments

An analysis of 22,094 patients from 136 different studies shows the following outcomes (fig. 1)

Bariatric surgery is the only viable treatment for morbid obesity

When people need to lose more than 45 kg, dieting and exercise alone is almost always ineffective.
